Welcome to Sailing With Luna! My name is Micael, and I am a software developer turned sailor. I have spent most of my career working with software development, but my true passion lies in sailing and exploring new places.
I have always been inspired by the idea of leaving everyday life behind and embarking on a new adventure. My hunger to explore and my desire to break free from the Western way of living has led me to purchase my boat, a Hallberg-Rassy Monsun 31, a well-proven and reliable bluewater boat with reliable ocean crossing properties.
Here and on YouTube, I plan to share everything from actual sailing, exploring new places, boat fixing, and everyday life issues that will happen when you travel. I want to glimpse what it’s like to live on the sea, the challenges and joys that come with it, and the lessons I learn along the way.
My journey will start in Gothenburg in one or two years, and from there, I plan to work my way down to the Mediterranean, where I hope to spend up to a year before heading to the Caribbean. The rest of my journey is undecided, but I am excited to see where the winds will take me.
Despite being a novice sailor, with only a few day trips on friends’ boats, I am confident I can take on this adventure. My personal goal is to explore new places and prove to myself that I can do this. My family consists of my grown-up children who have already moved away from home, and part of the reason for creating Sailing With Luna is to keep them posted on my life. I hope to find some part-time work that I can do remotely. If you have ideas, drop me a message.
If you’re reading this and have been dreaming of embarking on your journey, I encourage you to take the leap and do it. Don’t wait because then it might never happen. I hope my journey and experiences inspire you to follow your dreams and live the life you’ve always wanted.
As I prepare for my big adventure, Sailing with Luna will focus on the necessary preparations before setting sail. This includes boat work, learning to sail, and other essential preparations. I aim to release two videos/updates per month leading up to my departure. Once I’m at sea, I aim to share weekly videos and posts so you can stay updated with my journey. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and hit the notification bell to be notified when new content is posted.
May I suggest you start the journey exploring my blog here
Thanks,
Micael
